Life is Strange Episode 2: All 10 Photo Collectible Locations

There are exactly 10 optional photo collectibles in Life is Strange Episode 2: Out of Time, spread across five areas — Kate’s dorm, the dormitory grounds, Two Whales Diner, the junkyard, and Blackwell Academy classrooms. Each one unlocks its own Trophy/Achievement, and grabbing all ten pops the Lab Master Trophy/Achievement. Miss any? You can replay Episode 2 in Collectible Mode from the main menu without overwriting your story choices.

Two of these photos — Warren’s in the science classroom and the diner graffiti — require specific actions before the prompt appears. Everything else is straightforward if you know where to look. Below is the full list in chronological order, with exact navigation details for each.

How Photo Collectibles Work — Trophies, Missables, and Collectible Mode

Every photo in Episode 2 is optional. None are required to advance the story, but each one ties to a named Trophy/Achievement the moment you take it. The final trophy, Lab Master, stacks on top of the 10th photo’s individual reward — so you only get it if the other nine are already in the bag.

Three photos require you to do something specific before the camera prompt even appears: luring the squirrel with food, approaching Frank’s dog from the correct side, and helping Warren correct his experiment. Skip those steps and the prompt simply won’t show up. The game won’t warn you.

Collectible Mode is the safety net. Access it from the main menu under Episode Select, choose Episode 2, and you’ll replay the episode with all your previous story decisions locked in but collectibles reset. You can jump back in specifically to clean up what you missed without replaying the whole thing from scratch. That said, going in order during your first playthrough is always cleaner.

Photo Locations 1–4: Dorm and Diner Exterior

Photo 1 — Rabbit (Kate’s Dorm Room)

After Max showers and heads to Kate’s room to return a book, don’t open dialogue with Kate immediately. Look to the right — there’s a rabbit in a cage near the wall. Photograph it before speaking to Kate. The prompt disappears once the conversation starts.

Trophy: Field of View

Photo 2 — Squirrel (Outside Girls’ Dormitory)

This one takes a few steps. Leave the dormitory after talking to Kate, then turn right past the steps. Head toward the trash can next to the bench in the distance. Examine the trash can first — Max will notice some food. Take a piece of it.

Now walk away from the bench entirely. The squirrel needs a moment to feel safe enough to hop up. Once it’s on the bench, walk back slowly and take the picture. If you approach too quickly or skip the food step, the squirrel won’t be there.

Trophy: Full Exposure

Photo 3 — Diner Sign (Outside Two Whales Diner)

When Max gets off the bus and reaches Two Whales Diner, stand just to the left of the entrance and look up at the sign overhead. The camera prompt appears at a specific angle — if it’s not showing, shuffle slightly left. Straightforward, no prep needed.

Trophy: Processor

Photo 4 — Frank’s Dog (Outside Two Whales Diner, Right Side)

Head around the right side of the diner, past the homeless woman sitting nearby. Frank’s dog is around the back. The approach direction matters here — come from the right and the dog stays calm, giving you the photo prompt. Come from the left and it barks, and the prompt won’t appear. Once you’ve got the shot, you’re done on the diner exterior.

Trophy: Image Stabilizer

Photo Locations 5–7: Diner Interior and Junkyard

Photo 5 — Mirror Graffiti (Two Whales Diner Bathroom)

Walk into the diner after photographing the dog, but don’t sit down yet. The bathroom is on the left. Go in and look at the mirror — it’s covered in “Fire Walk With Me” graffiti. Photograph it. This is easy to blow past if you head straight to a booth.

Trophy: Compressed

Photo 6 — Yellow Bus (Junkyard, Entrance)

As soon as you gain control of Max at the junkyard, turn around. Don’t follow Chloe forward. Walk all the way back toward the junkyard entrance and hug the left border. There’s a beat-up yellow school bus, and the photo prompt appears when you position yourself slightly to its left side. Takes about 15 seconds to grab if you know it’s there.

Trophy: Pixelated

Photo 7 — Deer (Junkyard Interior)

From the yellow bus, head right and look for a small gap in the stacked junk along the border. Squeeze through it. Max will spot a deer standing in the overgrowth. Follow it — the deer moves up and to the right. Once it stops and you’re close enough, take the picture. Don’t rush it; let the deer settle before the prompt locks in.

Trophy: Dynamic Range

Photo Locations 8–10: Late-Game Collectibles

Photo 8 — Chloe (Junkyard, On the Car)

After Max collapses and wakes up on top of a car with Chloe, a cutscene plays. When you regain control, move to Chloe’s left side rather than engaging dialogue immediately. The prompt will appear. This is the most story-integrated photo in the episode — it’s a genuine moment worth capturing, and the window closes once you push the conversation forward.

Trophy: Colorized

Photo 9 — Warren (Science Classroom) — Action Required

This is the most involved photo in Episode 2. Warren texts Max asking her to meet him in his science classroom back at Blackwell. When you arrive, talk to David first — the dialogue here varies depending on your Episode 1 choices, but it doesn’t affect the photo.

Talk to Warren next and pick any dialogue option. His chemistry experiment will fail regardless of what you say. Here’s the key step: rewind time. Don’t try to help him with a guess. Instead, walk over to the teacher sitting at her desk and ask her which element Warren needs. She’ll tell you the correct answer.

Now go back to Warren, rewind again if needed, and give him the right answer this time. His experiment succeeds. That success is what unlocks the camera prompt — stand to his side and take the picture. Skip the teacher conversation and you cannot get this photo, full stop.

Trophy: Meter Made

Photo 10 — Alyssa (Mr. Jefferson’s Classroom)

The final photo is the simplest. After speaking with Mr. Jefferson, walk into his classroom. Alyssa is sitting by the window, staring out at the rain. Walk up to her and photograph her. No setup, no special approach. Just don’t head straight to Max’s desk.

If all nine previous photos are in your collection, this one triggers both Resolution Revolution and Lab Master simultaneously.

The Two Photos Most People Miss — and How to Not Miss Them

In practice, two photos catch players off guard on a first run: the squirrel and Warren’s experiment. They’re not hard once you know the steps, but nothing in the game flags them as requiring setup.

The squirrel fails because players forget the food step, or they walk back too quickly after placing it. The deer, weirdly, is easier — just follow it and it cooperates. The squirrel needs patience. Pick up the food from the trash can, walk completely out of range, wait, then return slowly.

Warren’s photo trips people up because the rewind mechanic feels like a narrative tool here rather than a collectible unlock. The game isn’t framing it as “do this or miss a trophy.” You’re just helping a friend, and the photo opportunity is the quiet reward for paying attention. Ask the teacher. That’s the whole trick.

As for Collectible Mode — it genuinely works well for cleanup. The one thing to note: if you’re going back for the squirrel or Warren specifically, you still have to play through the sequences that precede them. You can’t jump to a specific photo mid-episode. Budget 20–30 minutes per return run depending on how far in the missed photo sits.

All 10 photos are the only optional collectibles in Episode 2. There’s no hidden 11th, no secret branch. Once Lab Master pops, you’re clean.
