GTA San Andreas Switch Cheats: Complete Code List (70+ Codes)

Every cheat code available in GTA San Andreas on Nintendo Switch uses D-Pad directional inputs — not the analog stick. The Definitive Edition includes 70+ working cheats covering weapons, health, vehicles, weather, and world modifiers. A handful of codes from the original PS2/PC versions no longer function, but the list below reflects everything confirmed working as of the March 2026 update. To activate any cheat, simply enter the button sequence during gameplay (not paused). No menus, no phone — just buttons.

One important note before you start: saving with cheats active may flag your save file in certain categories. Use a separate save slot if you care about a clean playthrough alongside your chaos run.

The complete reference. All inputs use the Nintendo Switch button layout — ZL/ZR for the triggers, L/R for the bumpers, and A/B/X/Y in the standard Switch configuration. Directional inputs (Up, Down, Left, Right) must be entered on the D-Pad.

Weapon & Ammo Cheats in Detail

The three weapon sets cover nearly every firearm in the game, with each tier escalating in firepower. Weapon Set #1 (R, ZR, L, ZR, Left, Down, Right, Up, Left, Down, Right, Up) gives you a starter kit — brass knuckles, bat, pistol, shotgun, micro SMG, AK-47, rifle, rocket launcher, Molotovs, spray can, fire extinguisher, and camera. Weapon Set #2 swaps several of those for upgraded variants: a silenced pistol, sawn-off shotgun, Tec-9, and sniper rifle slot in where the basic versions sat. Weapon Set #3 is the full combat package — Desert Eagle, combat shotgun, M4, MP5, heat-seeking RPG, and C4.

Enter the same weapon set code twice and your ammo resets to maximum for those weapons. That’s the fastest way to top off mid-session without cycling through all three sets.

Infinite Ammo (L, R, Y, R, Left, ZR, R, Left, Y, Down, L, L) is the cleaner long-term solution. Once active, it stays on for the rest of that session. Max Weapon Proficiency (Down, Y, B, Left, R, ZR, Left, Down, Down, L, L, L) instantly maxes your skill level with every weapon category, unlocking dual-wielding for pistols and micro SMGs right away — no grinding required.

Health, Armor & Character Stat Cheats

The single most-used code in San Andreas is almost certainly $250,000 + Full Health + Full Armor: R, ZR, L, B, Left, Down, Right, Up, Left, Down, Right, Up. It does exactly what it says — restores health and armor to 100% while dropping a quarter million dollars in your pocket. Stack it repeatedly if you need more cash fast.

Infinite Health (Down, B, Right, Left, Right, ZR, Right, Down, Up, X) is different from the above — it makes CJ immune to damage rather than just topping off his health bar. Note that it doesn’t prevent death by drowning, falling out of the map, or scripted story deaths.

The body stat cheats are worth knowing for early-game convenience. Maximum Muscle locks in the top physique without a single gym visit. Maximum Fat does the opposite. Remove Hunger stops CJ from losing muscle mass over time. And Maximum Stamina (Up, B, X, B, X, B, Y, ZR, Right) eliminates the sprint meter entirely — useful if you’re doing a lot of on-foot running early in the story before you’ve built up fitness naturally.

Maximum Respect and Maximum Appeal each serve social functions. Respect caps your gang recruitment capacity and triggers different NPC dialogue. Appeal affects how NPCs react to CJ in general — particularly useful if you’re going for certain mission outcomes that depend on relationship meters.

Vehicle Spawn & Driving Cheats

The Hydra is probably the most powerful spawn in the game. Spawn Hydra (X, X, Y, A, B, L, L, Down, Up) drops a fighter jet directly on top of you — make sure you’re in an open area with vertical clearance, or it’ll land on your head. The Hunter military helicopter (A, B, L, A, A, L, A, R, ZR, ZL, L, L) is similarly useful for aerial combat; it has a chin-mounted machine gun and air-to-air missiles.

For ground chaos, the Rhino tank (A, A, L, A, A, A, L, ZL, R, X, A, X) is the classic choice. Pair it with Invincible Car (L, ZL, ZL, Up, Down, Down, Up, R, ZR, ZR) and nothing on the road can stop it.

A few quality-of-life driving cheats worth keeping in mind:

  • Improved Handling (X, R, R, Left, R, L, ZR, L) — makes every vehicle handle like it has upgraded suspension. Hugely helpful on the mountain roads around Mount Chiliad.
  • Full Aim in Vehicles (Up, Up, Y, ZL, Right, B, R, Down, ZR, A) — lets you aim freely while driving, no need for drive-by strafing.
  • All Cars Have NOS (Left, X, R, L, Up, Y, X, Down, A, ZL, L, L) — every car becomes a nitro-capable vehicle. Stacks entertainingly with Flying Cars.
  • Drive On Water (Right, ZR, A, R, ZL, Y, R, ZR) — does what it says. Any road vehicle can cross bodies of water. Essential for certain exploits around Las Venturas.

The Jetpack spawn (Left, Right, L, ZL, R, ZR, Up, Down, Left, Right) and Parachute spawn are both technically vehicle cheats in the game’s internal system. The parachute code specifically is useful before any skydiving sequence if you don’t want to hunt one down manually.

Weather, Time & World Modifier Cheats

The weather codes all share the same base sequence — ZR, B, L, L, ZL, ZL, ZL — with only the final button changing the outcome: X for Sunny, Down for Extreme Sunny, A for Rainy, B for Foggy. Stormy and Rainy share the same code (ZR, B, L, L, ZL, ZL, ZL, A), which means toggling between them requires cycling through the others.

Sandstorm (Up, Down, L, L, ZL, ZL, L, ZL, R, ZR) is the outlier — a distinct sequence that creates a distinctive orange haze across the desert areas. Mostly cosmetic, but it dramatically changes the visual tone of the Bone County region.

Time cheats lock the clock rather than advancing it. Always 21:00 pins the game at 9 PM — perpetual sunset, which is genuinely one of the better-looking times of day in the Definitive Edition’s updated lighting. Always Midnight sets permanent darkness, which affects NPC density and police patrol behavior slightly in certain areas.

Speed Up Time (A, A, L, Y, L, Y, Y, Y, L, X, A, X) accelerates the in-game clock, cycling through weather and NPC schedules faster. Faster Gameplay and Slower Gameplay alter actual game speed — useful for screenshots or just making combat feel different.

When Your Cheats Won’t Register

This is where Switch-specific issues come in. The Definitive Edition has a few quirks that don’t exist on PC or the original console versions.

The most common fix: use Joy-Cons instead of a Pro Controller. Multiple players have reported that certain cheats — particularly the longer 12-button sequences — fail to register on the Pro Controller but work immediately when switched to detached Joy-Cons. The exact cause isn’t confirmed, but it appears related to input polling differences in the Definitive Edition’s port on Switch hardware.

A few other things to check:

  • You must use the D-Pad, not the left analog stick. Directional inputs via stick do nothing. This catches a lot of people on the longer sequences.
  • Enter codes during active gameplay, not during cutscenes, the pause menu, or while the map is open. The game won’t register inputs in those states.
  • Speed matters less than accuracy. You don’t need to input sequences quickly — the buffer window is fairly generous. But a single wrong button resets the sequence silently, with no feedback.
  • Save in a new slot before testing cheats for the first time. Some players have reported cheat inputs becoming responsive only after a fresh save load — particularly on a cold boot of the game. Odd, but worth trying if nothing else works.
  • If you’re playing in handheld mode, the D-Pad on the Switch itself is the same hardware as detached Joy-Cons, so that shouldn’t be an issue. The Pro Controller discrepancy only matters in docked or tabletop mode with the controller detached.

Fair warning: the Rainy and Stormy weather codes are listed as identical in the game’s data (both end in A after the ZR, B, L, L, ZL, ZL, ZL base). Community testing suggests they may produce different intensities of the same weather state rather than two genuinely distinct conditions — exact behavior varies by session.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the cheat code for full health in GTA San Andreas on Switch?

Press R, ZR, L, B, Left, Down, Right, Up, Left, Down, Right, Up. This gives CJ $250,000 cash, full health, and full armor simultaneously.

What’s the cheat code for infinite ammo on Switch?

L, R, Y, R, Left, ZR, R, Left, Y, Down, L, L. Once entered, infinite ammo stays active for the entire session without needing to be re-entered.

How do you lower your wanted level in GTA San Andreas on Switch?

Press R, R, A, ZR, Up, Down, Up, Down, Up, Down. Each input reduces your wanted level by two stars. Enter it twice from a six-star wanted level to clear it entirely.

What’s the cheat code to spawn a tank on Switch?

A, A, L, A, A, A, L, ZL, R, X, A, X spawns the Rhino tank directly in front of CJ. Enter it in an open area — the spawn has no collision check and will clip through objects.

What’s the cheat code for the Jetpack in GTA San Andreas on Switch?

Left, Right, L, ZL, R, ZR, Up, Down, Left, Right. The Jetpack appears equipped on CJ immediately after the sequence completes.

Do GTA San Andreas cheats disable trophies or achievements on Switch?

GTA San Andreas on Nintendo Switch does not have a traditional achievement system, so cheat use has no trophy penalty. That said, activating cheats does mark your save file internally — some mission completion flags may behave differently if cheats were active during that session.

Why do some cheats work on PC but not on Switch?

A small number of original San Andreas cheats were removed or modified in the Definitive Edition across all platforms. The Switch version doesn’t have a keyboard, so any PC-specific text-input cheats are unavailable by design. All codes listed above are Switch-native D-Pad sequences.
