FIFA 23 anti-cheat error – this is how you solve the problem

The so-called anti-cheat error in FIFA 23 is causing frustration for some players of the PC version. But there are solutions!

The anti-cheat error can occur if you want to start FIFA 23 for the first time via Origin or Steam. It prevents you from even starting the game; there are no problems with this on other platforms.

The error manifests itself in different ways. For example, you might just see a black screen where nothing else happens and you have to quit the game. Or you see an error message that says: “EA AntiCheat Service encountered an error. Please restart the game.”

FIFA 23 Anti-Cheat Error Solution

As mentioned at the beginning, there are several methods you can try to solve the problem.

One option is to simply restart the game , for some this has already solved the problem.

Update from November 15, 2022: EA has released the new Title Update 4 for FIFA 23. This is also intended to address issues with error messages related to the anti-cheat software and error codes 5 and 740.

“This issue most commonly occurred when installing FIFA 23 with an administrator Windows account and then attempting to launch the game with a non-administrator account,” it says. If you still have problems, install the patch!

If that doesn’t help, you can try the following:

Run Steam or Origin as administrator

1. On Origin or Steam, click on the respective app icon to open the options menu.
2. Select “Run as administrator” and start the program.
3. Start FIFA 23.

For some this helped, but for others it didn’t.

Deletes the anti-cheat program

1. Go to the folder with the EA anti-cheat program (X:\Program Files\EA\AC).
2. Runs the file EAAntiCheat.Installer.exe and then exits the program.
3. Deletes EAAntiCheat.Installer.exe.
4. Start FIFA 23 via Origin or Steam.

This will result in a reinstallation of the anti-cheat software and may solve your problems if you’re lucky.

If not, there is still one method left:

Reinstall FIFA 23

• Start Origin or Steam as administrator and uninstall FIFA 23 completely.
• Redownload the game.
• Start the game after downloading.

If all of that doesn’t help: EA has now acknowledged the error and is working on an official solution, which will hopefully come soon.
