It seems that Valve adds a ray tracing to Source 2

Further – only fortune telling on the coffee grounds. Now there are four games on Source 2: Artifact, Dota 2, Dota Underlords And Half-Life: Alyx. The community is trying to understand: what of them Valve wants to stick the ray trace?

The most “graponid” game from the list – Half-Life: Alyx. But this is a VR game, for which it is important to maintain a very high framework, and Real Time racks is able to break even the most powerful video cards. Three other projects simply do not look like a suitable polygon for demonstrating technology.

However, Valve builds its games on a common technological database: updates for a single project so and then leave tails in another. For example, so traces Half-Life VR discovered in The Lab Even before the announcement Alyx. Maybe the ray tracing is designed for something new?..
