Sony explains what makes and does not make a wiretapping of voice chats on the PlayStation

When firmware update 8 for PlayStation 4.00, it turned out that after launching the PlayStation 5 recording of voice communication in “Partitions” of both consoles will be able to enter PlayStation Network moderators. Sony decided to explain in detail how it works so that people do not admire the foil hats all in vain. Well, or glued even more active – who knows!

  • Sony not engaged in constant wiretapping voice chat.
  • Only records from users who themselves sent them through the system of complaints with inconsistent behavior.
  • The voice chat entry allows you to include up to 40 seconds of communication: 20 seconds of the main conversation, when, according to the user, there was a violation, and 10 seconds before and after the specified passage (apparently for context).
  • The console holds in memory only the last 5 minutes of the conversation – only of them and you can choose an excerpt for complaints.
  • Cancel conversations cannot be discarded. Sony wants all PLAYSTATION users to feel safe.

You can send recording conversations to moderation only on PlayStation 5, but the owners of the current and next generations will be allowed to communicate with each other in “Tusovka”. So, voices with PS4 will also be recorded on PS5.
