In short, it allows you to swing up to level 160, which is quite enough to take a bunch of perks, pump 4 classes to max, and run through the modules, while feeling at least some progress.

Note: if you want to play on the network, then the server must be created through nwn2server.exe, and you should not swing the character above level 120 in multiplayer, because for the lobby this is the maximum rank.
