CTR: Nitro-Fueled Cheats List – All PS4, Xbox One & Switch Codes
Complete cheat codes for Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled across all platforms. Find working cheats, how to activate them, and which original CTR codes still function.
CTR: Nitro-Fueled Cheats List – All PS4, Xbox One & Switch Codes
Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled supports cheat codes entered directly from the main menu — no pause menu required, no mod tools needed. Hold the two top shoulder buttons on your controller, input the sequence, and you’ll see a Cheat Activated notification confirming it worked. Of the original CTR’s full cheat roster, exactly 10 cheats carry over into Nitro-Fueled across all platforms. The remaining 12 are legacy codes tied to content that doesn’t exist in the remaster (unlockable characters now accessible by default, a Spyro demo that shipped with the PS1 original, etc.) and simply won’t trigger.
Below you’ll find the complete activation process, a breakdown of limitations worth knowing before you start, and full per-platform code tables sorted by working status.
How to Enter Cheats in CTR: Nitro-Fueled
The input method is consistent across PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch — only the specific buttons differ between platforms.
- Boot up CTR: Nitro-Fueled and stop at the main menu — the screen where you choose Adventure Mode, Arcade, Local Arcade, and so on. Do not enter a mode first.
- Hold the two top shoulder bumpers simultaneously: L1 + R1 on PS4, LB + RB on Xbox One, or L + R on Switch.
- Keep holding those buttons throughout the entire input. If you release early, the sequence resets.
- Enter the button sequence for your chosen cheat exactly as listed in the tables below.
- On success, a pop-up reading “Cheat Activated” appears on screen. No notification means the input failed — try again from step 2.
One thing that catches people out: only one cheat can be active at a time. If you enter a second code immediately after a first, the game registers the first and ignores the second. Deactivate the current cheat before entering a new one.
How to Disable Cheats in CTR: Nitro-Fueled
Deactivation is just as straightforward as activation, with one notable exception covered below.
- From the main menu, select Adventure Mode.
- A pop-up titled “Deactivate Cheats” will appear before you load in. Select Continue.
- The active cheat is now off. Press back to return to the main menu and either enter a different code or play normally.
The exception: Penta Penguin cannot be deactivated this way. Once you enter the Penta Penguin unlock code, that character stays unlocked in your save file permanently. The deactivation prompt does not appear for this specific cheat. If you’re playing on a save with cloud sync enabled, the only way to get back to a state without Penta Penguin is to load the game on a separate device without that cloud save — essentially starting fresh. For most players this isn’t a problem since Penta Penguin is a fun bonus character, but it’s worth knowing before you input the code.
Important Cheat Limitations Worth Knowing
A few things that don’t get flagged clearly anywhere in-game:
Cheats don’t stack. The one-at-a-time restriction is hard-coded. You cannot combine 1 Lap Races with Super Engine Mode, for example — you have to pick one. This was also the behavior in the original PS1 CTR.
Half the original codes are dead in Nitro-Fueled. Twelve cheats from the PS1 version no longer function. Most of them unlocked characters (Fake Crash, Komodo Joe, N. Tropy, Papu Papu, Pinstripe, Ripper Roo) who are available through normal play or the Pit Stop in the remaster. The Spyro 2 demo code was PS1-only content. Super Hard Mode, the Scrapbook, Turbo Track unlock, Boost Counter display, and Beakers-only item mode are all non-functional in Nitro-Fueled as of the current build. The tables below mark each cheat clearly.
Cheats work in Adventure Mode and Arcade. They’re not limited to one mode, but the activation must happen from the top-level main menu — not from within a mode’s sub-menus.
Online play. Cheat codes are disabled in online multiplayer. Local multiplayer with active cheats is fine.

A quick note on why so many codes share identical directional inputs across platforms: the face button mappings shift (Triangle becomes Y or X depending on the controller), but the d-pad sequences are completely unchanged from the PS1 original. So if you remember any of these from 1999, the muscle memory largely transfers — just swap the face buttons for your platform.
The 10 working cheats cover a solid range of gameplay modifiers: speed boosts, item manipulation, track conditions, and character unlocks. Super Engine Mode and Unlimited Turbos together give you the fastest possible feel without touching any save data permanently — useful if you want to mess around in Arcade without committing to a changed Adventure run. Infinite Wumpa Fruit is probably the most broadly useful for casual play since maxed-out Wumpa multipliers mean every weapon fires at full power from lap one.
