How to enter cheat codes in Red Dead Redemption 2

To introduce cheats in Red Dead Redemption 2, pause the game and then access settings. Then press Triangle (or Y on Xbox), as suggested in the bottom right corner.

You will then come across a long list of Red Dead Redemption 2 cheats. They will all be blocked but you can activate them by entering codes. Press Triangle (or Y on Xbox) to do so.

Now, any cheat that has been unlocked will be available and you can activate and deactivate it, meaning you only have to enter the cheat once and it can be accessed whenever you want.

Of course, once you activate it, you’ll receive a warning – activating a cheat means you can’t save your progress or collect Trophies and Achievements. In short, anything you do from this point onwards will not count.

Again, don’t forget that any cheats activated in Red Dead Redemption 2 will disable the ability to unlock Achievements and Trophies for the entire duration of that gameplay. The good news is that it won’t let you save your progress, so you can relax and have fun before returning to your adventure.

How to unlock newspaper cheats in Red Dead Redemption 2

As mentioned above, there are certain requirements in the form of Newspapers, which can be purchased through vendors in the villages. You will have to obtain the corresponding newspaper in order to unlock the cheat, which is printed at the end if you return it, as you can see below:

If you try to enter these types of codes ahead of time, the game will give you an error message that says ‘You do not meet the requirements to unlock this cheat’.

There are three different types of newspapers, which launch new editions throughout history. You can buy them from Valentine (New Hanover Gazette), Strawberry (Blackwater Ledger) and Rhodes (Saint Denis Times) as you play, or wait until the end to access the entire catalog.

For some reason, there are times when you cannot buy a newspaper from the seller. If this happens, we recommend that you come back later and try again. As far as we can tell, there’s no chance of one escaping you, so don’t worry.
