In Russian League of Legends, the voice chat was disconnected due to the “Summer Package”
On July 1, the Law “On Countering Terrorism” came into force on the territory of Russia, also known as the “Summer Package”. He obliges telecom operators to store calls and user messages over the past six months. And if you think that under the “operators”, only mobile operators are meant, then you, unfortunately, are mistaken.
Riot Games announced that turns off voice chat on Russian servers League of Legends. As developers write, they fall under the “Summer Package”, but at the moment they cannot provide storage of audio records for six months – this requires a serious infrastructure, which Riot Games not yet.
As a result, from July 4, Russian gamers lost a voice chat for an indefinable time. Riot Games promised to keep the audience in the course of the development of the situation.
Note that the voice chat appeared in League of Legends Most recently: it began to be introduced together with patch 8.6, which started in the second half of March 2018. At the same time, communication through the microphone was included only in groups that were going together in advance – to hear strangers players still could not.
