Scientific Research Department Microsoft introduced an experienced sample of a new controller, which using infrared lasers and cameras tracks the position of the fingers and the hand handpiece.

The prototype was called Digits. His main task is to implement three-dimensional user interaction with computer systems without using a virtual reality glove. On Microsoft Research, you can watch a video in which the principle of operation of the device is clearly demonstrated, as well as its practical application.

Initially, the engineers had the task of creating a movement recognition device that would exceed Kinect by accuracy. However, according to developers, the area of applying Digits can go beyond video game. Of course, now the appearance of the device is infinitely distant from the final version, the sizes of which scientists plan to reduce to wristwatches.
